Hello Hopefully someone out there has some great advice for me.
I am an Australian citizen and I have been a Permanent Resident of Canada for 3 years now. My boyfriend sponsored me under family sponsorship and we live in Quebec.
We got married in August, in Australia and I will be taking my husbands family name. I am due to renew my passport in January so my new Australian passport will have my new married name and my PR card will have my maiden name.
Here's the thing, we live in Quebec and the law here does not allow me take my husbands name and I will have to keep my maiden name, but only in quebec.

Will the CIC be able to change my name on my PR card when I live in Quebec?
Can I travel when my passport has my married name and my PR card has my maiden name?
How can I change my name on my PR card to match my new passport?

Any help is much appreciated.

Note: A woman residing in Quebec may not use her husband’s last name in Quebec if she was married after April 2, 1981. Please note that only Canadian citizens may apply for a legal change when residing in Quebec. In light of this, PRs residing in Quebec are unable to comply with the requirements to change their name set out in the Naming Procedures.

Because CIC needs the province/territory to recognize the change, you'd have to get a citizenship or move, it appears.

If any one has done this after April 2, 1981, I'd be interested to hear how as well!

We are living in Quebec also and we got married in Thailand and my wife took my last name at the same time. So she applied with my last name.
Her thai passport has my last name on it. She can use my last name for her bank account, driving licence, sin number, only immigration use her maiden name and public health insurance.

Thankyou, Did you apply for your permanent residency after your marriage or before? I received my PR before my marriage so a lot of places won't let me change my name.
