Has anyone had this experience?

Canadian moving back to Canada with my Japanese wife in August. What do I have to do to have our marriage recognized in Canada?

Translation of Japanese marriage certificate? Notorized? Anything else?

Please help. I posted this issue a while ago with lots of reads and 0 responses.

Thanks for your time.

Hi,

According to the information what I have, if your marriage was registered at Japanese Municipal government offices by using the form Kon-in Todoke, that would be acceptable. Of course, you should get a Japanese marriage certificate - koseki tohon - or its extract - koseki shohon -, translated and notarized.

You should be able to get a marriage certificate from Canada embassy in Japan.
