Hi guys,

Just a quick one. As I understand, my immigration application requires photocopies of my future wifes passport. However, her current passport uses her old last name. Do we need to get a new passport to submit with our immigration application - one that shows her new married name?

Cheers,

Ste

No, so long as it is not expired.

It's not a legal requirement in Canada, but you should check her country's legislation. Also, you can encounter issues with customs.

Your wife is Canadian and if you are just sending a photocopy of her passport for immigration being the sponsor,i wouldn't worry that it is in her maiden name . Her maiden name is all through her application and they will put two and two together. In the application it asks for alias names this is the name you would put down, her old name as you call it.
