Marriage with non immigrant

I am on a post graduate work permit in Canada, applied for immigration 15 months back now going through background check.
I received medical call but it says "Donot schedule medical untill six months from date of this letter", which makes me puzzled.
I am getting married to a non immigrant who is also on post graduation work permit in Canada, I am wondering if I update my family status after marriage, is it gona take long?
If I dont update my family status does it matter?
Say if I update the status and I dont get the PR untill June 2011, which is when my work permit is expiring, whats gona happen then?

You MUST inform the CIC if your mirriage status changed before you get the PR. Otherwise, if you don't inform your visa officer, and he find it out by himself, your application will be rejected.

Yes, you must update your information with CIC if you get married while your application is in process. If you do not, you lose the chance to sponsor your spouse at a later date but you will also be guilty of misrepresentation to immigration and it may cause them to refuse your PR or even revoke it if it has already been issued.
