I am planning on visiting my GF of 5 yrs in Vancouver to meet her and her family. If we get married during this stay, will I be able to stay in Canada and file an temp PR and stay there till I receive it? Will I be able to work during this wait time?

1st .... FOR UR PR APPLICATION u need to get court married officially BECAUSE u need marriage cert. and yes u can get married here while visiting someone ...
2nd ... u can filed ur inland application under spousal sponsor....inland application got 2 stage ....1st stage AIP (8 to 9 months) ...2nd stage MEDICAL AND BACK GROUND (DM 8 MONTHS)
this time is not accurate and always change time to time and depend on case to case also ...Note u r not allowed to work till first stage approval ..After AIP Only u can apply for OWP...Good luck

To the OP. There is never a guarantee you can stay in Canada when you 'visit'. There is no such thing a temporary PR. You are not allowed to work or study without status in Canada.

if op get court married in Canada and filed for inland spousal application then why not ??? he can send request for visa extension also...I don't think so their gonna be any problem ..but about work I already told op their no chance before first stage approval .....and about temp. pr I think op just out of sense because their not such thing ,,,may be op talking about conditional pr ....Alurra71 said:

Imagine sitting at home for not just a year or so, but 2 or 3 or even 4 years while you wait for an answer. Unable to work or study. No sir, not me, no way! LOL
