Marriage certificate

Hi,

I have a problem regarding marriage certificate date. me and my husband was from different religion, so in 1997 we had a registered marriage, following which we had a church marriage in the month of august 1998. Now my problem is my husbands previous passport was issued in 1998 february in which spouse name ( mine) has been included. now when I apply, if I give the church marriage certificate of Aug 1998 will it be a problem?????????? .

if so what should I do , please advise.

Hi,

Give your 1997 Marrigage Certificate as that was the first time you got married and dont have to mention anything about 1998 church marriage.

Thanks Saki, but the issue is we just have an agreement for the registered marriage, no certificate for the same??????????. I have been using the church marriage certificate for all purpose.

Rae74, so on what basis did you get the name added on to the passport? I believe, in order to change/add names onto passports, we need legal proof. What proof did you use at that time? Use the same document.

At that time we processed the passport through an agent, who was actually a family friend too, I believe in 1998 they did not ask for much documents, he just added our names and during police verification also we were staying together in my husbands family home, the person for verification did question our neighbours too.

I dont know somehow my name was printed, eventhough we never insisted. Moreover we both were young and did not give too much importance to this matter, even my consultant never noticed this, but recently when I was getting all the documents ready I just noticed this fact and here I am, really confused.
