Is is possible to generate marriage certificate in Indian embassy (here in Canada or US)? If couples got married traditionally in India?

I am not sure but I don't think so it is possible. Usually the marriage certificate needs to be reissued where the marriage was originally registered in India.
Contact the nearest Indian Embassy to see if there are any options available.
