I have looked around for quite some time (as a lurker) for my specific case but couldn't find anything - Apologies in advanced if it was staring me in the face all along.

My girlfriend and I had applied as individual applicants and have both submitted the relevant documents and paid up in January 2021. We've completed our biometrics too. We got married last month (April) and wanted to know how this would affect us. Should we individually send a letter to Canada explaining our status update? Would this change our application status - I would hope not since we applied separately.

Hope someone can clear up our doubts.

Thanks!

You each need to update your status to married but you will need to include each other on your applications although you can list each other as non-accompanying if you want. You should already have things like your medicals done. Although you are applying separately Canada needs to ensure that you would still both pass the medical and other background checks if one of you withdrew your application.
