Mailing in Passport

Hello. I am currently collecting documents for my PR application but also trying to think ahead to the next steps so that I can be prepared. It is my understanding that I will need to mail my passport somewhere during the PR process. I live only 2 hours from my family and friends in Buffalo, NY, USA and have many small trips planned there throughout the year and am afraid that I will not be able to travel while I do not have my passport. Anyone know how long we have to go without our passports during this phase of the application?

Not many days. CIC requests your passport only after PR application is approved and you should get it back within couple of weeks time..Good Luck!

If you hold a passport from a visa exempt country you are asked to submit a passport copy in the PPR letter rather than your actual passport.
