Lost Passport - Ran out of Student Status - How to Apply for PGWP with new passport number?

My situation is quite complicated so I’m hoping someone would know how I can deal with it.

I came to Canada in Jan 2023 with a permit till end of the year. However, I had to get my Study Permit extended till September, 2024. In July, 2024, I lost my passport before I could get it stamped. It has taken me months to get through the process of reporting it stolen, going to the embassy, and finally applying for it with all the right documents. I was waiting for my passport to arrive but Canada Post went on strike and I couldn’t get it in time and have now lost my Student status in Canada on November 30, 2024.

I should receive my passport soon, but I am wondering how do I proceed once i get it?
1) I have to now restore my status as a student, but on a new passport number. Then followed by getting a PGWP. How can I start this process in Canada?
2) If I leave Canada once i receive my passport, could I be able to apply for PGWP with my new passport number? Or will I have to process anything with my study permit.

Please remember that I was not able to get a stamp on my passport for my Study Permit extension as I had lost it.

Kindly advise me on this, I’m extremely overwhelmed by all of this. Thank you!

When did your study permit expire exactly?

My program ended in September, but the permit officially expired Nov 30 as you have 3 months to apply after that.
