I've searched on this forum but I couldn't seem to find a thread with this topic before, so forgive me if this is repeated!
I applied for a renewal of my visa on September. The application went smoothly and I they are issuing me a new visa (working). I received an email from CIC two and a half weeks ago. However, my passport was lost/stolen a day before I received their email. I'm already on the process of getting a new one through my embassy (Mexican), I have my police report and everything. I should get it sometime next week, and send it in to get my new visa stamped in it (within their 30 day limit).
My only concern is that they will have a problem with stamping my visa in my new passport, since I applied with my old/lost one. I've called CIC to no avail (only their automatic menu is available, possibly because of the strike?), searched on the CIC help website, google searched, you know the drill.
Does anyone know what I should do in this case? Should I send in my new passport with a copy of the police report? Is there a form I need to fill out for this? Should there be a problem? Has anyone or anyone they know been in the same situation?
