Hello everyone! I really need some help or advice. I want to immigrate using the family class sponsorship with my Cousin sponsering me. Is this a good idea? I haven't seen 'cousin' as an option in any of the visa apps, but he has a business i can work in and is in the area i want to live in. I have an uncle who will also sponser me, but i would prefer for it to be my cousin.
I am also 28 years (too old??) and work as a manager in hospitality and the highest education i gained is a HND. I am from the UK.
Is there anyone who can tell me if i at least meet the criteria and what chances do i have? I really want this and want to maximize my chances!

Thank you everyone!!

A cousin or uncle cannot sponsor you. Maybe you could get them to apply and give you an LMO to get a work permit through their business then after a couple of years of doing that you would be able to apply through either the Skilled Worker program or Provincial Nominee program. Wish you lots of luck on your journey though.

Also here is the note from the CIC referencing this point:

Who can be sponsored

You can sponsor:
  • parents
  • grandparents
  • brothers or sisters, nephews or nieces, granddaughters or grandsons who are orphaned, under 18 years of age and not married or in a common-law relationship
  • another relative of any age or relationship but only under specific conditions (see Note below)
  • accompanying relatives of the above (for example, spouse, partner and dependent children).

Note: you can sponsor one relative regardless of age or relationship only if you do not have a living spouse or common-law partner, conjugal partner, a son or daughter, parent, grandparent, sibling, uncle, aunt, nephew or niece who could be sponsored as a member of the family class, and you do not have any relative who is a Canadian citizen or a permanent resident or registered as an Indian under the Indian Act.

Depending on what province your uncle lives in he may be able to sponsor you. A couple provinces one is Manitoba have a family streAm. If you're over 25 and meet certain criteria.

Why don't you try an IEC permit to start? See here: http://www.canadainternational.gc.ca/united_kingdom-royaume_uni/experience_canada_experience/index.aspx?lang=eng&menu_id=7

Experience gained could be used towards applying for PR later. It could open a lot of options for you.
