My wife apparantly lost the hardcopy of the paper, but she manages to obtain a image of the document. Would it cause any problem in entering canada?

1. Yes, you will have to contact the issuing office and get a new COPR for her, will require a statement/police report that COPR is lost, and new pictures. She will not be admitted with a copy of the COPR.
 
She won't be able to board a plane to Canada without the COPR or a valid replacement. I have read however on this forum of someone who lost his COPR during his landing trip to Canada (during a stopover at an airport) but was able to complete the landing procedure. However he had the COPR at the time of departure from home country.
