Hi everyone,

I have a question about losing PR status.

My dad landed in Oct 2017. He did the soft-landing, stayed in Canada from Oct 2017 to Jan 2018. Then he came back to our home country.
This Oct 2020 will mark his 3 years living outside of Canada from the date of soft-landing. I am worried that with the current Covid-19 situation, he won't be able to fly to Canada.

Does CIC allow any exemption for this case?
Is there any way to notify CIC about his situation?
Do we need to do to prove to CIC?

Thanks a lot!!

Job Offer........
Pre-Assessed..
No exemption related to Covid. But if your mother is Canadian citizen or she work for a Canadian company and they live together, then they can be considered to exempted. You can learn more at canada.ca

Agreed. No special exemption due to Covid. It’s only been 4 months and you’re father had sufficient time prior to this to return to meet RO. This is the risk of leaving settling in Canada until the last minute.
