HI,

I am a new permanent resident in Manitoba. I have this personal issue and dont know what should I do, the best decision.
My cousin who is a temporary worker in Alberta borrowed money from me 1500$ then promise to pay with interest last January. and now she the situation has been changed. she dont want to pay the interest anymore (well i absolutely agree with that but all i need is to get paid the whole 1500$) then now as of this month of May she pay me already 1250… then with this she dont want to pat the balance 250… plus she is threatening me that she will call CIC to report me that Iam doing lending money business here. I am full confident that I dont engaged in that kind of business… I have enough proof, and the bank, my credit history and my source of income will prove that i am not capable to have that business…

I wonder if i can report this girl to the immigration about what she is threatening me, and libel on my part. plus the money balnce she owe me…

What is the best way to do? and I believe that before loosing my pr the CIC will investigate if im doing such this business… but then if the investigation has been proven that i am not liable… can i charge my cousin for the damages on my part? because she is accusing me that thing…

your help will be very big help to me… thanks

i don't think your cousin can report you to CIC, although she can try. what does she have for proof that you are engaging in "lending money business"? There are many legal business who lend money to people. Lending money as a personal loan is not illegal by any means, so i'm not sure what her argument to them would be. that you loaned her money, and she's refusing to pay it back? i'm assuming CIC would hang up on her or send her a letter stating this is a personal issue, not a reason to investigate someone and revoke their pr status, if they reply at all!

seriously, i can't see this becoming a big issue. is it even worth it to continue fighting over $250? I say cut your loses and move on. CIC is not going to want to get involved in a tit for tat family argument, so reporting her isn't going to do anything to change the situation, except possibly backfire and get you into trouble for something kind of ridiculous.

thank you for the advise… this site are so very helpful…

on the other hand can i report her to CIC the she is using a wrong detailed document… her birth certificate is missing some letter on her middle name… knowing the discrepancies on her birth certificate she is using it will her all documents like passport and police cert… is this is fraud?

i don't think a misspelling of her middle name has anything to do with fraud. move on with your life.

No - you can't report her to CIC for this. Well technically you can report her, but CIC won't care.

As others have said, forget about the money you are still owed and move on with your life.
