Hey guys,

I am about to apply for a PGWP with a permanent job offer after completing a 1 year program.

I have been hearing that people have gotten 18 month to 3 year PGWPs during the pandemic after completing a 1 year program. Personally know one myself.

Should I request this from the officer in a LOE? What would be your advice?

You are eligible for one year. You can’t ask for longer. The program that you are refering to were for people who had their PGWPs expiring and the program ended in July.

Nope. Had a friend who got an 18 month length one for her initial PGWP application after finishing a 1 year program.

It started as
“ I have been hearing that people got 18months for 1 year”

to

“ I have a friend who got 18months for 1yr”

Apply then….

Are you by any chance referring to the public policy that IRCC put in place due to the pandemic where PGWP holders were able to extend their work permits by 18 months?

@scylla Nope. During the initial application phase.

@Simba112 Buddy, read the "Personally know one myself" qualifier. Thanks for your polite contribution though. (y)

Got it. In that case we haven't seen cases like that on this forum to the best of my knowledge.

Good luck.
