i have a query, if you are employed in Saudia Arabia. I have heard that the employer has your passport. So how someone send his passport to the embassy for Visa ?
Any possibilty to get the visa without the empoyer's knowledge?

Just tell ur employer to give the passport citing personal purpose like opening a bank a/c , driving licence, surety for someone involved in a offence etc. When u get it sent for visa stamping .

Some of my distant relatives worked in Saudi Arabia and they said that its Saudis' rule that employers keep the employees' passports on their safekeeping as if they release it , employees could flee away. May be some sort of legal problems thats why. But its clearn violation of Human rights.

ecas status changed to "recvd by visa office" - 26 jan 2010
waiting.....
@ the passport issue in middle east...
Option 1 -well as mentioned just get your passport saying that you have to open bank a/c or some other excuse.. and then send it for stamping.. you need to be strict here with your employer.. legally they are not supposed to force any employee to keep the passport with themselves.. if they question just tell them staright that you have submitted it to indian embassy for some work and they may contact indian embassy if they are so keen to get the passport.. thats the best answer
Option 2 - Get the passport and then tell them that you have misplaced it (lost it).. they would ask you to apply for new one and then you take your own sweet time
