IMPORTANT QUESTION: Passports have been requested but I am travelling to Vancouver day after today in the morning.

Questions:

1. Can I send my passports while I am in Canada? Will it create a problem in any way? My spouse is in Dubai and she will need to send me the passports in Canada so that I can send both together to London?

2. Or is it possible to get the PR Visa stamped while I am in Canada itself? I am also able to travel to the US if need be?

Appreciate all inputs and good luck to all.

Re: London Office- Passport request received, travelling on TRV day after tomorr

i see that you are an Indian... Indian passports cannot be mailed across borders... it is against the law...

someone needs to carry them in person to UK and mail them to CHC, London.

stamping can happen only in the local visa office...

i want to watch what happens closely because I too may end up in a situation like yours...

Urgent UK Office- Passport request received, travelling on TRV day after tomorr

Thanks for the reply. I thought the law was that Indian passports cannot be mailed/couriered out from India.

I would be in Canada when I need to send the passports. And the letter states that the passport for gulf country residents are sent back to the Canadian Embassy in the Gulf countries which in turn contacts the applicants to collect passports.

But effectively I would be in Canada when this happens, though my wife would still be in Dubai. So perhaps the cycle should be:

1. My wife couriers her passport to me in Canada.
2. I send both passports to the London visa office.
3. I give an authority letter to my wife to collect both the passports back from the Canadian Embassy in UAE
4. She couriers back my passport to me in Canada.
5. I exit to the US border and re-enter Canada.

Now my question is what happens if one gets the PR while one is in Canada on a TRV. Is the TRV cancelled at the time of Visa Stamping? If so would this create any problems for me to exit Canada and re-enter on for PR stamping.

I am also interested in this thread. I think I am soon going to be in similar situation. Kindly keep us posted.

1. Indian passports can't be mailed/couriered in or out of INDIA
2. Why complicate things, how long are you going to be in Canada? If less than 30 days, then wait until you return home. Otherwise your spouse will have to send all the passports to you in Canada, then you send them to London and hope that London sends them to you rather than Dubai. If they return them to Dubai, then your spouse has to get yours back to you.
3. London is the only office that will "stamp" your passport.

oh wow! this is a revelation to all Indian applicants... this might make things less complicated for many of us.

Thanks PMM

Agreed PMM. After all research and inputs, I have postponed my trip to Canada until after I receive the stamped Passports back.

A clause in Pakistani passport also mentions that sending passport out of country through mail or courior is a criminal act. I asked the TCS office and they said that you can be jailed for this offence. But I wonder how do people who have families in other countries eg people working in UAE or UK etc and family living in native countries manage to process all passports through one visa office.
I would be thankful if someone enlightens me.

They or they have a friend or relative carry the passport with an authorization letter in/out of India.
