Hello everyone,

I have been with this company for about 18months. Do I need to get an LMIA? I approached our HR dept. and they said they have done LMO in the past & are not sure what LMIA is. Are they the same thing or different documents? I live & work in Alberta but the HR is in Toronto. I am applying through Canadian Experience Class. Please advise.

LMO changed to LMIA in June 2014. Same general idea, but procedures are bit different -

Thank you, I think what I find most confusing is the wording of every site. They keep saying Temporary foreign worker, or offer letter for employee. I've been with this company for a while as a permanent full time worker. am I still considered temporary?

You are temporary because your status in Canada is temporary, until you get PR.

To be considered to have a "valid permanent offer of employment," you need the LMIA and a written offer from your employer for a permanent position, contingent on your obtaining permanent residence status.

Thank you Jes, I will most likely have more questions. Will be asking them as I come across any challenges :)
