LMIA - Resignation from current employer in native country.

If we get work permit on LMIA basis, do we have to necessarily resign from our current employer in our native country and present the proof of resignation when moving to Canada? Would sabbatical work?

No, you don't need to show proof.

Just to add but you would need the experience letter and other related papers to be used later for PR.
