Hi guys,
I am on my OWP and currently working as an electrical technician in Ontario. My education background is Electrical Engineering back-home and here engineering technologist.
As of current rules, I can never get minimum points for EE.
I am thinking about LMIA but the job is not related to my study or experience at all. the job will be a manager position at a food/burger restaurant.
Is that a good idea?
Please help.
Thanks in advance

The thing is if your LIMA gets positive. You can try it I don't know how strong is your employer and whats he/she going to write when it comes to show your skills and not to hire Canadian for that position. if your LIMA get positive yh you have no problems

If you are in EE pool and you have LMIA. thats all you need. Get an ITA straight away. I doint think anything else matters.good luck

You have to be eligible first and enter EE pool.

It is not an easy process, but if your employer is willing to support you try it out. They will need to run an ad at multiple sources that can be viewed across Canada (ie monster.com etc) for your position and prove that they were not able to hire someone with your qualifications for the position.

That is not true. Even with a positive lmia you may still be refused if cic believes that you do not meet the requirements for the job.

This is true. And IRCC is likely to be at least a little suspicious of someone being hired as a manager with no previous experience in the industry.
