Hi,

I have found that there's an LMIA exemption (A70) for sponsored spouses:
https://www.canada.ca/en/immigratio...idents/foreign-workers/applicants-canada.html

Does anyone have experience with this? Does it work to get a closed work permit while the OWP arrives? An employer wanted me to submit the Certificat de sélection du Québec to get the LMIA, but since it's still processing ( and who knows for how long), I figured that we could give this A70 LMIA exemption a shot.

I guess I can show proof of application fee payment and shipping to Mississauga to show that I'm "the subject of a sponsorship application".

The exemption only applies for the OWP that is submitted along with an inland application.

I see, too bad. I hope that my CSQ arrives soon then, or that I find an employer willing to go trhough the LMIA process

The LMIA plus WP process can take 4-6 months and with Canada’s unemployment rate being higher you will really need to prove there are no Canadians who can do the job.
