I was asked to ask the question in workers instead of visitors forum.

I am from the Philippines and have been working food counter attendant my 2 year contract will expire Oct 15 2014.
My boss is trying to get LMIA but I don't think it will be processed in time.

I Have applied to extend my stay as a visitor and have a letter of invitation from My Boyfriend.

The problem is What if I don't get Visitor Visa in time .

I applied on Sept 18th and they are only working on Sept 10th applications plus the 13th is a holliday.
What happens if my time runs out beforee the application is approved or denied?

Hi pirch,

This link might help you about Restoration of status.

http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/resources/tools/temp/visa/validity/restoration.asp

As long as you apply for visitor status before your permit expires you're fine.

My visitor permit didn't come though until a week after my permit expired and I stopped working.

I am also applying for an lmia

If for some reason the visitor Visa is rejected. Then can I use restoration . ?? Or do I have other options. I am not that worried about working. If I can't work its ok.
