Hi everyone,

I'm an LLB graduate, and I'm currently preparing to apply for Canadian immigration. Since the LLB is considered a professional degree in many contexts, I want to ensure that my Educational Credential Assessment (ECA) reflects that accurately.

From what I’ve researched, not all ECA providers recognize the LLB as a professional degree, which can impact the assessment outcome and, ultimately, my CRS score. I’d really appreciate it if anyone who has gone through this process could share their experience.

Specifically:
  • Which ECA organization assessed your LLB as a professional degree?
  • Did you receive additional CRS points because of that?
  • Would you recommend a particular assessment body based on your experience?
Any guidance, tips, or confirmation from personal experience would be incredibly helpful. Thanks in advance!

Without knowing your country and school (because that matters) then start with WES. If assessed as professional degree then may get points for Masters level. What is your CRS scores because lawyer is not in demand. If fluent in both languages then have a good chance.

I completed my LLB through the University of London’s External Programme. I’m fluent in both French and English, so I expect to be considered under the French-speaking draws. I’m also aware that the legal profession is not currently in high demand, which is why I don’t intend to apply under the NOC for lawyers. Instead, I plan to apply under a more relevant NOC based on my experience — specifically, Business Management Consultants. My CRS is 503 where I've must my education credentials as a Bachelor's instead of a Professional degree.
