Hi everyone,

I am a Canadian Citizen and I'm applying to sponsor my wife who lives in Morocco. We got married there, but i live in Canada.
While checking the applications and all the guides, i got a bit confused. ::)
Anyone been through this could give us an idea about the entire procedure :
What applications , what documents do we need to include in the package, the fees .. etc ?
I'm also confused, my wife lives overseas, does she need to send me the applications with the original signature or is it okay to just scan them and then i just print them out.
How about the police certificates and the medical examination, do we need to include that in the package?
I'm also unemployed currently would that be a cause of rejection?

Any reply would be greatly appreciated.

Fees: $475 for the PR application, $75 for the sponsorship application, $490 for Right of Permanent Resident Fee (RPRF; can be deferred). Total $1040. Medical exam can be $200-$400 in Canada. Other incidentals as required.

Documents to include: That will depend on your country-specific guide + the Document Check list.

Applications? Well, are you applying outland, or does she want to come here to apply inland? The processing times are the same (supposedly) now. Here, she can apply for an Open Work Permit (OWP). That's $255 more to your fees, if that's what you want to do. The application package: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/sponsor/spouse.asp . It's the same package for both in or outland.

If she is coming to Canada, and applying for the OWP: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/work/apply-how.asp .

Must be originals. So, if she is staying there during processing, then you must courier paperwork.

No, the medical and police clearance certificates (PCC's) are asked for later.

No, but you will have to prove your source of income, and explain how you will support yourselves without using social assistance.
