Hi All,

We're sending our package in within the next few weeks. I'm Canadian and my husband is from Prague. I just got my youth mobility visa to live in Prague for a year and I'll be flying out at the end of April. In the forms where it asks if I'm living in Canada or not, should I say that I'm still living within the country or that I'm living abroad (even though I won't have flown out yet once I mail the package)?

Thanks!

Add a letter to your application stating that at the time of applying you are resident in Canada but will be residing in Prague for a year from the end of April. No one can then accuse you of misrepresentation. But since the end of April is only 2 months away, why not avoid possible complications by delaying your application until after that? As a Canadian citizen will still be eligible to sponsor though residing abroad, but you will need then to complete that part of the form which relates to your intention to return to reside in Canada. That should be straightforward: the letter would then state that you have a visa to live in Prague for only one year and that after that you will be returning to live in Canada as before; but you would need to spell it out, explaining where you would live, how you would support yourselves etc.

I agree with wowsers I think there would be a risk that CIC could query your move to Prague. A recent applicant was rejected becuase their plan to move back was outwith the timeframe CIC deemed acceptable. In addition if you are submitting your application as complete prior to your move in April and you submit your medical it is only valid for a year from the date of issue so it would expire before your years visa in Prague is complete. Generally you have to move by the expiry date on the medical unless CIC grant an extension or they ask for a futher medical which is an additional cost. Maybe holding off for a while might be the best option.
