Hi All!

Just wondering, i'm an Irish, 27 year old female and i am going to Canada on the IEC scheme this summer for the year, however, i would like to stay longer. I have experience in childcare and was wondering about whether i should participate in the live in carer scheme as a nanny? I am curious, i know this sounds stupid but can you live in a separate residence from your employer if they are agreeable and you keep to your agreement around working hours, conditions etc... as stated in the contract?

Any advice / information would be of great help!

Thanks

Stephanie :)

No - you cannot live in a separate residence. You must live in the same home as your employer.

See:

http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/work/caregiver/index.asp

"Live-in caregivers must live in the private home where they work in Canada."
