Hi friends,

I've heard that one of the ways which counts as the years lived in Canada during PR, is to work in a Canadian company even abroad. Therefore, I would like to ask if you can help me find a list of famous canadian companies which normally have offices abroad.

I appreciate your help. :)

Actually the way I understand this rule is that you must have
a REAL work from a Canadian company.

Additionally... to enjoy this exception, you do NOT just go and find a job
in a Canadian branch at your company...

You need to be employed INSIDE Canada first, THEN assigned to
one if their branches abroad.

I'm NOT 100% sure of this, but as said this is my understanding for that exception.

May be a senior member can add his $0.02 as well :)

Thanks,
Mary

P.S. you can read more about this here:

and also I found this old (but useful) thread here:

Please go to http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/skilled/apply-who.asp

If you are apply FSW you have to have work experience in Canada.
See below

1. According to the eligibility criteria, your application is eligible for processing if:

* you have an offer of arranged employment, OR
* you are a foreign national who has been living legally in Canada for one year as a temporary foreign worker or an international student

Thanks Mary.

starzibal, actually what I meant was after one has got PR. You know that according to rules one must reside in Canada for 3 years within every 5 year period. Right? I have heard that if someone works in a Canadian company abroad, that time is even considered as if he is residing in Canada. So that was my concern and doubt.

As Mary said, maybe it's not as easy as what I though.

Any suggestion from experts, most welcome! :)

What if you are hired by an American company in Canada and they want to send you to the US for couple of years? I mean this is not a Canadian company but you are hired by their Canadian office and sent for a training to the US. Will immigration officers count it as staying in Canada?
