Linking account

Finally found some time this weekend to link our account and just failed my first five times. I have a couple of questions about this.

In the linking, it says give your city of birth and country of birth OR give passport details. Four out of five times, I gave both. Then the last time I gave just the passport information (thinking the city (which has different spellings in English) is a potential source of error). It didn't blank out the city and country lines though, which makes me wonder if I got rejected for not filling all slots.

Second question: how many times should I try before I contact them?

Second question and a half: Is it straight-forward to contact them for not being able to link or is that another problem in itself?

What a head ache! Now I understand what people have been complaining about so much!

I had the same issue back in March. I tried every single day with no success.
I was finally able to link it 2 weeks later

most have had success by just entering the bare minimim...no passport info, no city of birth

what seems to be confusing most people is number of applicants and whether to include the sponsor or just the principal applicant and dependants

My working combination

1. Log in with GCKey account
2. Permanent Residence - Family Class (Spouses)
3. Application Number and Unique Client Identifier (UCI) - Insert application number and UCI from email
4. City of Birth - Insert PA's City of Birth
5. Country of Birth - Select PA's Country of birth
6. Passport Info - Insert Passport number, issuance and expiration info
7. Other Application Info - Fill out the other application info as per your application (Province, City and marital status) and put '2' as the number of members in the application for sponsor + spouse (add +1 per dependent, if any)
8. Click on the 'Search for my application' tab
9. Then on 'Link my application' tab

Yay it worked! Thanks for your advice, everyone! I used a mix of what you said. Here's what worked for me:
1. Log in with GCKey account
2. Permanent Residence - Family Class (Spouses)
3. Application Number and Unique Client Identifier (UCI) - Insert application number and UCI from email
LEFT THIS BLANK: 4. City of Birth - Insert PA's City of Birth
LEFT THIS BLANK: 5. Country of Birth - Select PA's Country of birth

7. Other Application Info - Fill out the other application info as per your application (Province, City and marital status) and put '2' as the number of members in the application for sponsor + spouse (add +1 per dependent, if any)

Hi i'm quoting Naveedali because this method worked for me after months of trying.

Logged in with GC Key account.
2. Permanent Residence > Family Class (Spouses)
2. Application Number and Family Name - Copy/pasted application number from email (including the F) and entered PA's last name.
3. City of Birth - I entered 1 space (hit spacebar once)
4. Country of Birth - Selected PA's country of birth
5. Passport Info - Did not enter any passport info
6. Other Application Info - Filled out the other application info as per our application and put '2' as the number of members in the application.

hello !
What i should write against this question: ( Number of family members, including the primary applicant, that are part of this application ).

I want to link existing application to receive updates from VO. So i dont know what to write either 1 or 2. My wife lives in canada and sponsoring me only. She is now in canada and i am here.

Pl help!
