Hello,

I'm planning on visiting a friend in Canada for 2 months. I will be staying with them. I am from the United States. Is a letter of invitation be required or at least recommended? I've never traveled outside the country, so I'm a little nervous and want to make sure everything goes smoothly :)

- Thanks

Have you tried answering the online questionnaire? It can help with the requirements for you:

Thanks. It didn't mention anything about needing a letter, so I guess I don't need one. However would it be recommended to get one anyway?

The reason I referred to the questionnaire is because if you ultimately link that to the online application, an upload slot should appear for the invitation letter if it is required.

Even if it doesn't show up as a requirement, you can choose to send an invitation letter in the letter of explanation slot if you can also provide proof of your friend's status in Canada, like their PR card or bills with their address on it.
