Folks,

Recently, i received letter from quebec immigration stating that i am short of '8' points for my application. Here is the breakdown for points..

Employability - 48/108 (Minimum 50) > Any idea why this is so low even though i have lot more work exp.??
Domaine de formati (training) - 0/16 > Why i did not get any point in this ??? Any idea ??
Experience prof - 8/8
Age-16/16
French - 0/16 > I mentioned no French in application. I joined a French class now..How much i will get for beginner level ??
English - 6/6
Quebec stay - 0/5
Family in quebec - 0/3 > I have my uncle and aunt in Toronto but it did not count there? Any idea ?
Offer letter - 0/10 > Don't have any offer letter. And really cant do much right now on this..

Here is some background for my application...I applied this for myself as primary applicant any my wife as secondary. I have around 6 year work exp in IT consultancy. I have done Mechanical Engg from India which is 4 year post-graduate program. My wife also have 5 year work exp in IT consultancy and Master degree in Comp science. She got 2/4 points for domain area (training) but i did not get any point out 16 for same point.

Please reply back with all you suggestions for specially highlighted blue points..

Thanks

I think you should have mentioned another level of French and you should have taken French classes prior to to your Quebec application.

Yeah...I think so.. I have another 60 days to provide some extra evidence to cover up these points (short of 8 minimum).... and i am planning to join some French classes to have a beginner level experience at least and provide some kind of letter from institute..

Another point is that i am not sure why i did not get any point out of 16 for domain area..while my spouse got some point for same domain (IT consultancy)...

Hi,

I believe Mechanical Engg. is for 4 years and is done after 12th and it is equal to Graduate not Post graduate.

Seniors Plz Comment.

Thanks
Candreamz

yeah..that was a typo...it is a graduate degree only..and i got 10/12 for that...and i am pretty okay with that...

I am more concerned about NO POINTS for domain while i should get at least 6/16 points for that as per the rules...

Other thing...how many points i will get for beginner level french classes...

Thank you so much for response..!!1

Any idea about why there is no point for domain 0/16 while my spouse got 2/4 for same domain (IT Consultancy). ??

My initial guess was that my graduate degree is in Mechanical Engg and my total job experience and expertise is in IT consulting and might be they did not see any relation in both. What do you think ??

Thanks for all who responded for this post till now..

Singh...
I think your inability to be given the point might simply be because your first degree is in Mechanical Engineering which ordinarily should have fetched you 6points but it is at the discretion of the reviewing officer to award such points as your work experience is in IT and not Mechanical. I might not be entirely right thou just what I think.

1)your wife was able to get 2ponits for area of training cos her training falls under the list of preferred training though with no priority treatment. if possible maybe u can write them along side with a fresh application package where your wife will be the principal applicant by so doing she will be able to secure 6points for the area of training as against the zero u got.
2) with d 60days deadline which has already started ticking away, u wont b able to take French level which is equivalent to A1 and d maximum points this can give u is 2points even if u have 100% in d exam.
From what u wrote this are d only 2options u av gotten cos u have maximum points for all others except for stay in Quebec and family in Quebec which they difinately don't expect u to do something about cos if such had existed b4 now u would av provided them. Fill a fresh form, get french result and prove of class enrollment for yourself and your wife, clarely apend your file number and dossier number to the new form and envelope( check d letter they send u for the name of the officer who handled ur case and put d name on d envelope, include a cover letter explaining d reason for the new form.) i think with this u should be able to get additional 9points. cheer up and get to WORK.

hello shashank

i also agree with egrace
and secondly if you are from india then i give you one advise try to take addmission for your self and for your wife in Alliance Francais for level a1 and a2 (intensive)which is starting around 25 of feb and take extra coaching in the institute as well as like me to clear the exam in two months, and send these receipts to the embassy says that you and your wife are doing level a1 and a2 and see what will they says.

i only can say you dear.
good luck

hello shanshak

i think you are right because i have also degree in bsc chemistry(which is in priorty list) but that is around 10 year old and i had a working experience in medical sale instead of chemist, thats why my consultant recommend me that i can apply with my mba which i did in last two years instead of my degree (BSC Chemisty). If you know that if you have degree more than 5 years old then you should have experince in the same field to get the points for area of training. But you are working in different field (IT) instead of your degree (mechanical) so thats why they havnt given you any point for your area of training.

best of luck

shashank. Singh, am sorry this sounds harsh but why would you want to migrate to Quebec which is a French area without any knowledge of French? Do you think even with beginners level of French you can survive there?Immigration Officers are not stupid people so even if you had claimed a different level of French, they could have called you for interview. You need to think wel and not just act based on your desperation to migrate from India!
