Hi, trying to get a clear answer on this one.

Submitted common law partner application in dec 09 with an extension of work permit application (I was in canada initially under a working Holiday visa, 1 year from UK). I have recieved my letter saying I have been initially approved for PR status and temporary resident status has been mainatained and I have a new work permit doc.

I have left Canada however and have heard that there is no guarantee of being allowed re-entry. Is being disallowed entry likely? All I can get from the call centres officially is that they advise applicants to stay in Canada until they recieve their PR status. Help!!

That's correct - there's no guarantee you will be allowed back into Canada. This is why it's very strongly recommended that those who apply inland remain in Canada until the process has been completed.

Having said that, since you are from the UK and are visa exempt, the chances are good that you will be allowed back in without any problems. (But again, there are no guarantees.)

How long ago did you leave Canada, and why?

With AIP and an open work permit, your chances of being readmitted are pretty good. No guarentees, though. However, better to know sooner than later so you know whether or not to start again with an outland application. You do realize that you need to be in Canada to land as a PR through the inland process, and this is why leaving Canada was a big risk? Good luck.
