Hi all,

I finally go through the Ontario PNP Express Entry process and got my PR very recently. I have just landed, and I have some questions about fulfilling PNP obligation.

I am planning to stay in Ontario for 2 weeks and then return back to my home country. I will probably return to Ontario again in June next year for 2-3 months. I wonder if this violates the term in PNP, which is about ‘intention to live and work permanently in Ontario’? I am still keeping my job in my home country, and I am not planning to quit it yet. I heard that PNP programs are going after people who did not show sufficient intention to live in a province after landing. Anyone knows if this is true?

People here have talked about freedom of movement between provinces after getting PR. Even for applicants under PNP they are free to move after obtaining their PR. However, I am talking about freedom to leave Canada and return, not about movement between provinces. So, I am concerned whether they will go after nominees who leave the country and do not stay enough time in a province.

Probably depends on the interpretation of "intend to live and work permanently".

To me personally, and thank heavens I am not involved in immigration, it appears your intentions are different to how I would interpret them.

Getting PNP, staying for 2 weeks, going back to your home country, coming back 6 months later for 2 - 3 months does not look convincing to me.

Yes, you have the freedom to come and go, but again, it all depends on how it is looked at.. Not sure this helped, but I would be cautious.

I don't know where you heard those rumors but I'm fairly certain that they were not credible sources. You're a Canadian Permanent Resident now and will continue to keep your PR status if you stay inside Canada for at least 2 of the next 5 years.

Relax, head home and come back when you're ready.

All the best!
