Leaving and Entering Canada when WP Extension is in Progress

Hello,

My WP expires on 15th January and I have already applied for an extension. My query is

1. If I leave Canada while my WP extension process is going on, will this process be hampered in any way?
2. If my WP gets extended, can I come to Canada after say, 6 months.
