Leave Canada when my spouse's visa is in process

I recently applied for the spousal visa for my wife in India and got an acknowledgement about a week ago and another email confirming I'm eligible to be a sponsor. I have set myself as the representative and that the communication be through me.

Now, is it OK for me to leave Canada to work in the US at this point? What are the repercussions?

As you are the sponsor, it is perfectly fine.

So yes you can work in the US but you will have to prove that you intend to move back when your wife gets PR to get approved.

@canuck78 I don't have any assets in Canada (not immovable). How does one prove that they would return?

Employment, housing, etc. If you own a business in the US it may be challenging.
