Hi.
My partner (sponsor) had a lease for a year and a half at his condo.
When I arrived to canada we asked to redo the lease so my name could be on it.

The lease changed from 1st of a month to day 26 as the start date (since its when i arrived to his place)
and instead of a year and a half is only one year one month lenght.

I showed my finished application to some friends to make sure all my paperwork looked correct and they both bring out that it looks really weird that the lease says from 26 of october 2013 to 30 of november 2014 (which was his original end date so it stayed.)

Nowhere it explains that we just redid the lease so my name was on it, so it seems that we started a lease on a"weird" date.
Does anyone sees a problem with this? Should i explain it somewhere? Or is it correct to just sent it this way?

I am also sending the receipts and the first payment starts on 1st of november 2013..since we are supposed to pay on every 1st of month.

It just brought to my attention that my friends couldn't understand why those dates were shown and i was wondering if an immigration officer could think the same.

Any suggestions? Is this lease correct for CIC, will they understad it? Thanks!!

In my opinion this is not an issue. There could be several reasons why the lease is dated the 26th October.

The previous tenant may have moved out halfway through the month, for example.

That was a brilliant step that you took! Just include a note, explaining this to CIC.

It's not all that uncommon for a lease to commence on a day other than the 1st of the month and CIC should have no problem with this at all.

Thanks! That sounds better!

Where would you add a note explaining this? an extra page at the end of the lease?
Thanks!!!

There is no need to add a note to explain this. Some leases start at different times during the months.

Mine for example started on the 17th of October and goes until Nov 1st following year. All depends on the move in date and if you get the place early

While it's probably true that there is no need to add a short note, why shouldn't the OP include one...especially if it makes them feel better?
