Any one here learnt french and took the tests for the purpose of scoring more points in the express entry system?

How easy is it? Hoe long did you study for it? What were your scores?

Wondering if our family should give it a shot !

This topic has already been covered on the forums if you do a search, but bottomline is, it's not worth to do so as a second language.

French is a difficult language to learn (harder than English).
You wouldn't be able to score enough without at least a few years of practice.
I took both English and French tests for my application and I found the French test to be harder than the English one.
There's particularly a casual group discussion on a random topic. I had to convince my "friend's friend" that installing solar panels on his roof was worth it and was the best renovation he could think of...
Pretty easy when you're fluent but I cannot imagine anyone being able to discuss roof paneling with only a few weeks/months of practice...
I'm French BTW

So you are French and found the English test easier than the French one? Wow. Thanks for your input. What you're saying has been echoed by other native French speakers as well.

Yes and I was kind of upset not to score the max points in French (I had very good score though ;D)

The test was pretty difficult, and I am french native speaker

Learn French not because of the points for CRS, but because it will help you adjust with the Canadian community better. There's a huge portion of the population who speak French so learning a second language will help you land a more competitive job in the long term :)
