Lawyers for Immigration

I am new to this forum and the application process of getting the permanent residence. I am a pharmacist from Iran and now i am studying as a phd student in calgary.

OK. Could you all give me suggestions and advices of getting a lawyer? Is it beneficial at all? Which one in calgary do you recommend? Will it take a shorter time if I have a lawyer?
