Late returning Medical Exam results. Will this be a problem?

I managed to miss the email from CIC requesting my Medical Exam results, and as such they will be returned after the 60 day period. I have phoned CIC, who say that they can't look into any details about my application (though they did say that nothing appears to have been closed), and have emailed Case Processing in Ottawa but am yet to recieve a response.

Has anyone else had a similar experience? Will my application still be open? I don't think I could handle such a simple mistake being the reason that this all falls apart.

Go to some CIC panel physician right away and undergo the PR medicals. Once done email CIC an explanation letter for reasons behind the delay.
