Where it asks to provide additional details on both of these forms, would it be okay to combine this using our timeline? It seems redundant to write two separate documents because they will basically repeat the same thing. So, what I have done is written a brief explanation at the top:

"We prepared this summary for both IMM5490 and IMM5540 where it asks to provide additional details of our relationship. Since we have lived together for so long, we felt it was easier to complete a summary together. We hope this will make it more efficient for the visa officer reviewing our case."

Yes? No? If no, what is the point of repeating the same thing twice?

In addition, is it okay to scan all our birthday and Christmas cards? We don't want to send them because they are precious to us.

Cheers,
FS

Joining your answers is fine, since that part of the application is optional anyway. Adding your explanation first is good.
You can scan cards. If they want to see the originals, they will ask for them (unlikely).
