Hello all! New member of the forum here, so forgive me if my question/s have already been answered elsewhere.
My fiancé is Canadian and I’m British, I will be flying out to Canada on the 10th March to hopefully stay! We are getting married on the 25th of March and will be submitting the application for sponsorship as soon as we have the documentation of our marriage.
A question has popped up in my mind, however, and my researching has come up short. I wish to change my last name after the wedding, which as I understand would mean I’d need renew my passport. Should we:
a. Renew the passport first so that it has my married name on it, then apply for sponsorship with my married name after I’ve received the new passport.
b. Apply for sponsorship with my married name, despite my passport having my maiden name.
c. Apply for sponsorship with my maiden name, send off passport for renewal, then change the last name once the new passport has arrived.
I guess I’m more so worried about if we apply for sponsorship and renew the passport at the same time, that my passport won’t arrive in time for when the visa office will want to see it? And I’m worried that if I put my maiden name on it, then change it later, they might think something is dodgy?
Hopefully you can clear the fog in mind around this!
Thanks in advance.
