Hey all!! we just got the medical done in Mexico City. So with that being said we are almost ready to send in our app!! We are looking to get it sent on November 2nd, 2015. Thank goodness our situation was very simple so we were able to get everything done within a few months. I am just putting things together and getting the last little things done! Does anyone have any advice on putting things together?? Any last minute advice or things not to forget??

1. Make sure you follow the 2 checklists, one is generic and covers documents for the sponsor and the applicant, and the other relates to the applicant and covers things like how many passport style photos are required, etc.

2. Do not use staples.

3. Have an identical copy of your application (including proof of relationship) so that if CIC lose something you can send them a copy.

4. Good luck!

To avoid the possibility of having your entire application returned:

Make sure that you are sending the latest version of every form, since CIC seems to update some of them fairly often.

Make sure that all required signatures are in place.

Send by courier and be sure you send to the address for couriers only if you do. I used fed ex.

That's fantastic !!!

You seems like a really organized person and I think it is the key to a successful application.

I would say to make sure all the proofs, the lastest forms, the 2 checklists, and all the documents in order (marriage certificate if you are married, proof of relationship if common-law partners, etc.) asked in the checklist are there... The pictures, letters from your surrounding... Put your application apart of his application for PR, no staples... I used like transparent sheet protector for each of the forms and I sent everything in a nice document folder (not too thick, it was fitting in the envelope still!).

It was a big risk to take, but we sent the medical exam and the police certificate with everything at the beginning. We got lucky because we sent our application inland on October 2014, and we're already done with everything. So... we wanted to sent everything. We thought it might be easier for them if they had all the information in advance... and it seems like it paid off since our application is now approuved and that we're waiting for the appointment of the Landing interview for October 20th!

I wish you best of luck, and I am pretty sure everything will be alright for you. :)

Thank you very much Woona!!!

If there are some forms that don't apply to you (i.e. Use of a Representative), write "N/A" on the checklist so that the CIC officer doesn't assume that you just forgot to include it. I've read of a few people leaving the tick box blank and then having their entire application returned to them. Good luck!!!!

please dont foget the Additional Family Information Form REGARDLESS if no one is accompanying your spouse or already living here in Canada,
That was our problem and the entire application got sent back in a mess - completeley dis-organized from what I submitted, everthing was mixed up. I use a table of contents and appendix indicating what is what and where to find certain information.

SEND IT BACK TOTALLY DIFFERENT FROM HOW I SEND IT THE FIRST TIME - HOPING IT WILL MAKE SENSE BECAUSE THEY DID NOT SEND BACK ALL THE APPENDIXS AND TABLE OF CONTENTS TO EACH ENVELOPE PACKAGE THAT WAS WELL ORGANIZED !!!

we did not submit this form because all of my hubby sibling and family are Cits of Canada - bummer!!!! as well as my children and his too.
so we N/A that section.

My application came back incomplete. I just submitted yesterday again for the second time with the requested form.

so dont forget it lol!!

GOOD LUCK

Thank you all for your great advice!!! Cheers to you all! :D
