Hi guys,
I got my COPR last week (through EE), the whole process took less than the 6 months they were advertising, super efficient. Anyhow, I need to enter Canada by mid-May. Back in December I had to get a new passport, it wasn't expiring, but all the pages were full, there was no space anymore to even put one stamp and I travel a lot for my current job, so I had no choice but to renew. I actually informed CIC of my new passport. I don't need a visa to enter Canada. When I went to turn in a copy of my passport and the passport pictures (to get my COPR), I gave them a copy of the old and new passport, clearly outlining which is which. No problem, we got it, they said. However, on my COPR, it now still lists my old passport details. I have that passport, but of course it is invalidated. I tried contacting the responsible office here, but the only reply I get is that I can email or send a letter. There is an auto-response to my email that says they will take 28 days to reply. I haven't tried a physical letter yet, the lady on the phone couldn't even tell me how long it would take them to reply.
So, right now my plan is to just land in Canada with the COPR as is, give the immigration officer both my old and new passport, explain the problem and I kind of don't see that this should be a big issue. What do you guys think? Does anyone have any experience with this?
Secondly, on my COPR it says Toronto as point of entry. Don't know why, I always specified BC. I have read a few times on this form that this shouldn't matter and one can enter anywhere, correct?
Thanks much,
Tina
