Hello All,

I was wondering if someone could help me out by giving me an answer or pointing me to the correct documentation (i am really bad at searching on the Internet) that would describe the requirements for landing. I assume I would probably get some more information once my passport has been returned to me but I just wanted to know how long I would need to stay in the country after landing? Would I have to receive my PR card before I can leave?

See the process for landing here, for EE applicants but basically the same.

Info for new immigrants

You could leave the same day as you land if you want to although not really advised from a travel / health viewpoint if on long haul trip.

You will be asked to give an address in Canada for your PR card, so most people use a friend or relatives address so that the card can be mailed or courier to them in home country. If you do not have an address then you can apply when you return later.

You do not need a PR card to leave Canada but need a card to be able to fly back to a Canada otherwise you would need to apply for a PRTD.

Also Recommended to apply for your SIN either at the airport Service Canada desk if there is one or in the city you arrive in. This will allow you to start work straight away when you return although is a simple process to complete just one item to check off any to do list.
