If you have been approved for TRV with one Letter of Introduction for study permit, you do not need to show any funds at the POE.

I think they do ask how I'm going to support myself.

They may ask you for proof of funds. Tuition receipt, bank statement, cash, cheque,... it's your choice. When do you plan to go to Canada?

Officer only asked me for my study permit approval and passport at point of entry.

Officer only asked me for my study permit approval and passport at point of entry and it took me around 7 to 8 mins to leave the counter.

As far as currency you are carrying is concerned i believe that you need to have a reciept for the same.
