Hi all,

We will be landing end of june. Our funds are currently in my wife's bank account. When asked for proof of funds when landed, is it ok to show my wife's current bank statement. She is accompanying me.

Thanks in advance!

Hi Bally,

I understand in your case you are the primary applicant. Did you furnish any additional document stating you have full access to her funds? Or, do you hold a joint account?

Hi Rohit,

No I didnt submit any document that states I have full access to her account. Its not a joint account either.

I was under the impression that I could use hers beacause even during the express entry application, I read that I could show funds in spouse account(although I showed mine at the initial application)

Any thoughts?

Do you have the link to page that states that you can show funds in spouse account ( without a joint account) ?

Regarding your query, if you application was approved already with funds in your spouse's account, i believe showing details of her account will suffice on landing. But that is my personal opinion.

Safer side, get a consent from wife that you can use all her money.

Hi,

Thanks for your replies.
So should I just get a letter from her o a regular paper signed by her that she allows me to use all the funds?

People are over thinking about the landing POF. The immigration officer asking you for POF at the time of landing, is rare. That said, for your peace of mind, get a letter signed from your wife in regular paper that you have all access. No need to go for any other means like travellers cheque or DD etc.

It purely depends on the Visa Officer you land up. You should be equipped with everything. I will consider my landing damn seriously.

I am saying so because I too was concerned too much about this before my landing. Now that I have landed and stayed in the country for more than two months, I know better than i knew before my landing. Yes you should be taking your landing damn seriously, once you land you will come to know yourself.

Hmm.. Several of my clients were asked for show POF. Mostly they take Bank Certificates or Traveler Cheques. So, sharing my experiences only.

Me and my husband are planing to apply soon , is it okay to submit my bank statement even though HE is the main applicant? Or do we have to submit his bank statement too.. we would rather not submit his since he freelances and there are many un explained transfers to his account and we wont be able to get an experience leter from the company he’s been freelancing with.

Zigzag85. From what I understand, the funds can be in your account but your husband may need to prove that he has full access to these funds. Probably a signed letter from you giving him access to the funds in your account might do the trick.

Also thanks everyone for the replies. Luckily when we landed we weren't asked for POF but we were prepared with a letter from my wife as well.
