hi, i received the landing interview letter scheduling this Monday, told me to bring my husband, 2 photos and passport but there is no indication about the 490 payment.
im a bit scared
Anything new is likely scary, but provided all you have done to date is in order all should go very well and you will have a nice stamp that means a lot in your passport. Enjoy your day and go out and celebrate after!
It clearly states in the guide that it will help with processing if you include the full amount, i.e. $1040.
The interview you have is not a landing interview. It is an interview to prove your relationship is genuine and to ensure you and your sponsor will live in Canada after you receive the PR visa. The landing 'interview' is not really an interview, I prefer to call it a formality upon entry to Canada. You've already been given the visa, so there is no way that immigration will deny you entry. Formality, and nothing to be concerned about, unless you lied on your application and are committing fraud.
Something as important as this and you don't remember the amount you paid? Wow. I'm reviewing everything a million times to make sure I have not omitted anything!! Payment, at least for me, is a no-brainer!
I agree with you! I know exactly how much I paid and I have the receipts! If you don't remember go prepared to pay for it and if u don't have to is because you already did! If they over charge you it's your own fault though, but I don't believe they would...

I received a letter from cic, not yet the sched for landing interview though. In the DM letter, they told me to pay $490 because I didn't pay it along with the app I submitted. How long ago did you submit your app? If they didn't indicate it in your letter and you're not sure if you paid for it before then might as well prepare that amount during the landing interview. And don't be scared. Congrats alice11.
thanks guy.. im so sorry. yea i just remember i paid 500$ in the interview last year, it went well but we have some trouble with the paperworks... the progress was longer than i thought and i was busy with school and work so didnt really pay much attention.
A landing interview is an 'interview' as well as any other one might be called in for. If information about particular circumstances were to change that is learned at the landing interview it could result in not being landed. So until one actually has the stamp in their passport and has signed their landing document things can change. It is incorrect to believe that a landing interview is a meagre formality.
It is true that in the majority of cases once the landing interview point has been reached that landing is the result. It is also true that no matter what the reason for any interviews there need be nothing to be concerned about provided all information has been provided when required, documents and information are genuine and all answers are truthful.
