Hello everyone!

I'm Mohamed Sakr from Egypt. I recently got my Immigration Visa to Canada, I have to land in Winnipeg before the 5th of May, which to be honest is not good for me! I'm have no intentions in moving to Canada right now, so what I want to do is take a vacation from work (I can only take 2 weeks), land in Canada, apply for the PR card, have it mailed to a friend, then leave back to Egypt. I would then as my friend to mail me the Card to Egypt once he receives it.

Ok so time for the questions!!

1- Do I have to land in Winnipeg? The problem with Winnipeg is that I know nobody there. I have friends in Toronto and Montreal but not Winnipeg.

2- If I have to land in Winnipeg, which is fine with me, can I have the card mailed to my friend's address in Toronto? Or does it have to be an address in Winnipeg??

If I have to mail the PR card to an address in Winnipeg, I'm pretty much screwed! :)
Since I can't stay for more than 2 weeks and I know that it takes 4 to 6 weeks for the PR card to be issued.

Really appreciate your help guys :)

Thanks,
Sakr

If you applied through the PNP in Manitoba, then you must land in Manitoba and give a Manitoba address for your PR card. When you land, you can say you don't have an address yet, go to UPS and arrange an address with them and then give that address to immigration. UPS can forward your mail, including PR card to you where you are living or to your friend in Toronto. If you did not apply through a PNP, you can land in Toronto and give your friends address.

Thank you Leon for you reply. I applied as a skilled worker so I guess this means I can Land in Toronto. Wohoo! :)

Sounds good :) Just keep in mind that if the immigration officer asks you if you are planning to be staying at your friends address when the PR card arrives, if you happen to say no, they may decide to refuse the address and withhold the card until you are back to stay. In order to avoid that, you can either say yes to that question if it comes up or if they decide to withhold the card, once you get to your friends house, wait a couple of days and then phone the CIC call centre and tell them that you did not have an address at the time you landed and now you do. Then tell them your friends address.
