Job Offer........
Pre-Assessed..
Hi All,

I am outlander and am planning to land in Canada in the last week of July. I currently am working in a job in my home country and am planning showing my bank account (including my salary account of my current job) as proof of funds (12000 CDN) when I land in Canada.
However I have not resigned my current job and plan to return to my home country and work for a few more months till I find a job in Canada I have few interview processes going, but no luck yet:(.

In this scenario is it OK for me to tell the border official that I am still keeping my Job in my home country or is it best that I resign my current job.

Kindly advice me on this issue,

Many thanks in advance.

Most likely they won't ask you about your job. just answer what they ask and show them what they ask.

You can tell them you need sometime to migrate so you will go back for a while. (If they ask, don't tell)

This is permitted. Many people, including myself, have done it without any problems.

Does anyone know the maximum no. of months/years you can remain outside of Canada before you immigrate permanently ?

You have to do your landing on or before the date on your COPR. If you miss that one, tough. Once you are landed you have to fulfill your residency requirements to maintain your status until citizenship, if desired.

Thanks for the quick reply. From the link you have provided I have understood that I can stay a maximum of three years outside of canada (spend 2 years within 5 years). Is that correct ?

To be more clear on my query. I understood that after the first landing, I can leave Canada i.e. go back to residency country, resigning from job and so on (up to max of 3 years), before I immigrate permanently to Canada and settle over there until citizenship status.

One more query is that does this period change from province to province ?

That is correct on both scenarios.

Not a provincial thing..it is a federal law.

people do this all the time so is not a problem just keep honest with CBSA at the border.

Ensure you get your PR card mailed to a Canada address and also if possible sort out your SIN at the airport as resolving both on landing makes it easier later.

Sure, if they bother to even ask you. My experience is that they were only interested in getting the process completed correctly. Make sure that they put your COPR number in your passport when they stamp it, and also sign it. Service Canada sometimes require to see that before they will issue a SIN if you don't yet have a PR card.
