LANDED..........
August 7th, 2015! Through Port Huron!
Exactly 2 weeks from today (Friday) with everything going well I will be landing.

We have had a hick up in our plans though, my husband was going to get a trailer from his company to haul my stuff, we just found out that they no longer want us to use it on our trip because if we "got into a wreck it would look bad on the company." So last minute now we are considering renting a UHAUL. *by the way my husband and his boss worked on the trailer for 2 days fixing it up for them to say no now, happy campers we are!*

Has anyone landed with a UHAUL in tow, will they request paperwork for the trailer? (we will have it of course but dont know how they treat them, is it a import??? Do I have to put it on my B forms? Anything special to do???)

The only reason we are needing a covered trailer is because we are taking the trip which is 4216.29 miles broken down into a few stops, and putting my stuff in his truck bed is not the safest way to do this...though I am sure at this point (ive gotten rid of what feels like 90% of my stuff...=cry=) it would all fit back there...

Thank you,
Super Nervous Excited Ravcat!

No, you'll be fine towing a rented Uhaul. The only thing you need to make clear is when you pick it up that it is a one way trip and is leaving the country. You don't need to claim it or anything like that as it is not yours.

Nothing to be scared about, but definitely something to be excited about!

Best of luck to you on your long journey. :D

When I first moved to Canada (long time ago), I drove up a U-Haul to move my stuff from NY to Toronto while my parents drove my car up. No problem at the border, I didn't declare it at all and the only concern border agents had about the U-Haul was to look inside it briefly to see what was in it. I returned the U-Haul at a U-Haul Canada location in Toronto after I was done with it and that was that.

I moved from Seattle to Victoria two years ago with a Uhaul - they didn't ask me a single question about the vehicle. :)
